The Royal Thai Consulate in New York is in charge of issuing appropriate visas to citizens and permanent residents within its jurisdiction area. The Consulate covers 10 states in the Northeast; Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Visa applicants living outside of our jurisdiction area are encouraged to contact the Royal Thai Embassies or Consulates in charge of your areas. (“Check jurisdiction” HERE) Please note that consular officers reserve the right to reject any applications without any explantion.
The Visa Section operates from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm (accept official holidays). Lunch break is between 12.30pm – 1.30pm. Find out the official holidays in 2017 (Click HERE)
Visa applications must be submitted between 9am – 12.30pm.
Collection time is between 1.30pm – 5pm.
Visa approval takes at least 1 business day. Failure to meet all visa requirements may lengthen the approval to 3 -5 days depending on how quickly the applicant can respond to the Consulate’s notification to submit the required documents.
Applications for some types of visas need approval from our headquarters. At present, a media visa takes approximately 2 – 3 weeks to be issued. Iraqi and North Korean passport holders are strongly recommended to submit visa applications 90 days prior to departure schedule to allow approval process from our headquarters.

IN PERSON: An individual applicant must complete and sign the visa application form. Submissions can be done in person or by a person on the applicant’s behalf.

The processing time may take up to 10 business days. The Consulate will NOT be responsible for the mishandling of any mail services, such as the loss or damage of an applicant’s passport.
Applicants are required to enclose a self-addressed 6” x 9” envelope or large enough envelope to properly secure returned passports with a sufficient postage fee. USPS express mail services are highly recommended. Metered stamps are NOT accepted.
Visa Fees and Payments
Types of visa and numbers of entries determine your visa fee. Applicants are required to submit visa fees together with their application forms and required documents. Please be informed that you cannot retrieve the fee back once it is paid. Therefore, you are advised to duly check information on visa requirement and fee or seek recommendation for an appropriate type of visa to apply from the Consulate before submission.
The Consulate accepts only money orders that are made payable to “Royal Thai Consulate-General New York”. Personal or company checks are NOT accepted.
